About Us
We are church bell-ringers, mainly from the University of Nottingham, but those from Nottingham Trent University are also welcome. NUSCR has members ranging from the absolute beginner to those who have been ringing for years, and all levels of ability (and enthusiasm!) in-between.
We ring every Tuesday evening from 19:00–20:30 (in UoN term time) at All Saints Church, Radford, and (naturally!) for Sunday services, from 10:00–10:30.
To find the church from campus isn't all that easy. There is a map showing the exact location of the church here. To get there, catch a purple indigo from the South side of campus, or a 36 or Rainbow 4 from the North side of campus, up Derby road (or walk if you're feeling particularly energetic) to Canning Circus — the Indigo at least will helpfully announce the stop when you get there. Walk in the same direction as the bus was going, cross over the first road you come to, with Junction 7 bar and The Falcon Inn just ahead of you to your left and right respectively — turn left onto Alfreton Road. Keep going until you find the bright green mini-market (Kaya Food Centre), and then walk down the road almost directly opposite it (Raleigh St). Before long, the church is in view!
For the first few practices of the academic year, a few of us will loiter outside the Portland Building from about 18:15 to show you the way.
Naturally, there is more to life (and to NUSCR) than bellringing, and the NUSCR calendar is full and varied. Without exception, practices end up in the pub, and so does pretty much everything else we do! Year by year, NUSCR arranges tours, weekends away, and trips to competitions. Our social secretaries have their work cut out keeping us all amused, but somehow they manage it! For some idea of what we get up to, take a look at our reports page for a taster.
